  2. Improve the narrative around our sector in the media and among the public
  3. Celebrate the important work we do. Boost morale and create a positive shared message for people who work and volunteer in the sector.

Carlow Regional Youth Service

Carlow Regional Youth Services (CRYS) is a local voluntary service affiliated to Youth Work Ireland. It was set up in 1988 with one part-time worker and its mission was to support and promote community based youth work. They provide direct programmes and services for young people at risk and we support young people by putting their agendas on the agendas of the decision makers. They provide a wide range of services and opportunities through community based youth work programmes.

The approach offered by CRYS is such that it ensures that its work is:

  • Respectful of young people, founded on the needs of young people themselves and a commitment to ensure their safety and wellbeing about establishing and maintaining positive relationships with the young people they engage with.
  • Informed by a commitment to provide skilled specialised services to young people at risk.
  • Underpinned by the principle of voluntary participation of young people.
  • Inclusive of all young people and strengthened by diversity.

International Youth Day is held each year on the 12th of August and is an initiative that celebrates the qualities of young people and recognises the challenges that today’s youth can face.

July Catchment Catch-up

The Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) is working to identify the issues affecting water quality in Ireland. Where LAWPRO identifies issues, they collaborate with the relevant local authority, public body, and stakeholder to find a solution. Community engagement is the cornerstone of this approach to combine local and expert knowledge for a better understanding of what’s happening in a local catchment and waterbody. Good water quality benefits everybody, it is essential for nature to flourish and our economy to thrive.
