An Gairdín Beo is a two-acre community garden in the centre of Carlow town where people come together to work the garden and reap the bountiful rewards together. In 2014 the possibility of a creation of a community garden was being explored and the idea of how it can best serve the Carlow community was developed.
The Growing Area in the garden is an area where the community can grow herbs, fruit and vegetables, a learning space for sharing skills and knowledge; the Biodiversity Area refers to all the different plants and living micro-organisms with pollinator-friendly plants and the Healing Garden is designed to help you engage with nature, allowing you quite time to enjoy the garden.
An Gairdin Beo is open to the public every Wednesday from 10am - 12pm, to come and enjoy home-made scones & cakes and freshly made coffee and they only require a donation for what you buy!
There is also little shop where you can buy the lovely fresh organic produce from the garden.
