Influencing the Decisions that Shape Your Community

Welcome

Welcome to the 2nd edition of Carlow PPN members E-Bulletin.

Our aim is to facilitate and enable organisations to articulate their diverse range of views and interests within the local government system and to deliver meaningful community led local development that benefits local communities.

One of the key elements is networking, where groups who have a common interest come together to share information, good practice and promotion of services.

We would like to thank all PPN members who are taking part in our ongoing re-registration process, your time and effort is much appreciated.

The need is both great and urgent. The EU are committed by international treaty to achieve ambitious carbon reduction targets. But public authorities cannot do this alone.  In order to help this process, they would like you to complete a questionnaire. This will help to inform EU, national, and regional policy regarding the drive towards a low carbon economy.

Latvian Authors Club “White Gate”

Latvian Authors in Ireland was established on September 8th 2017. It is a club of like-minded people created by authors writing in Latvian and English with a cultural education program.

The goals of this group are to unite all Latvian authors who live in Ireland; to find and prepare young authors for literary work; to provide constant creative contacts among authors of different generations living in various parts of Ireland and Latvia; to acquaint the society with Latvian literature with the possibilities of translating it into English, so that it could become available to a wider range of interested people.

The main objectives of the club are to consult authors with issues concerning literary practice; to organise contests for new literary talents; to develop literary seminars and workshops; to arrange public speeches for authors and to arrange literary events in different towns in Ireland and Latvia with collaborations of representatives of Latvian and Irish original literature writers.

Presently there are 9 Latvian authors in Ireland and they have decided to come together and create a club to realise their goals and plans regarding literature. This means to write, get published and meet readers!

They would like people who write poetry, prose and drama to join their club, as, according to them, they all have something to say!

They are also partnered with the Irish Writers Union.

As a result of friendly discussions the name “White gate” has arisen.
