Blackstairs Farming Group
|
The Blackstairs Farming Group (BFG) is a community based partnership group working towards the sustainable management and development of the Blackstairs uplands and their hinterlands.
The group was formed in June 2014 from the Rural Development Programme funding, for the sustainable management of EU designated habitats, using a locally-led partnership approach.
They are currently working on developing
a locally-led agri-environmental scheme on Nature Conservation and Pastoralism (EFNCP), with support of the Irish Uplands Forum, The Heritage Council and Carlow and Wexford Local Authorities, which has shown to benefit the farmer, the habitat and the local community.
The BFG is farmer-led and the Co-ordinator is Helena Fitzgerald.
BFG are members of the Irish Uplands Forum, whose advice and support to date has helped them to define and to progress their aim to sustain farming.
